AI Image Editor

The retouching desk: wardrobe, room and hour corrected on portraits that are nearly right. One correction per commission, originals preserved, prices shown in advance.

Retouch your own pieces, and media for which you hold both rights and consent.

Priced per commission and shown before you confirm. A retouch yields a new piece; the original is preserved in your account, untouched.

The retouching desk

Every collection holds frames that are almost right — the pose is true, the light is kind, and the dress belongs to another set entirely. A good retoucher does not discard such frames; she corrects them. Describe the single change you want, in plain words — a wardrobe exchange, a different room, an evening light in place of noon — and the desk re-composes the portrait with that change made and everything else left respectfully alone. The price is shown before you confirm, and the original remains in your account, untouched, for comparison.

The desk’s procedure

1

Choose frames with good bones

A true pose and kind light are worth correcting. A frame whose composition fails will cost more to rescue than to sit again.

2

Ask for one correction

A single instruction per commission keeps the rest of the portrait stable — and keeps the charge proportionate.

3

Compare, then decide

Original and retouch rest side by side in your account. Present the better one; the other simply remains a study.

Corrections most requested

Wardrobe

The same sitting, dressed again

One portrait wearing the ivory gown, the velvet blazer, the silk dress — a single sitting outfitting an entire collection.

Setting

A change of room

From the conservatory to the salon to the plain studio wall, with the sitter and her light undisturbed.

Light

A change of hour

Morning softened to evening, daylight warmed to candlelight — the portrait re-timed to sit with its neighbours.

Instructions the desk delights in

Wardrobe

“Exchange the ivory gown for a midnight-blue velvet dress; let the pose, the hair and the morning light remain exactly as they are.”

The change is named, and everything else is expressly protected. A sentence of protection costs nothing and prevents a great deal.

Setting

“Move her to a candlelit salon with a grand piano behind her; keep the sitter, her dress and her pose unchanged.”

One room exchanged. A new room, a new dress and a new pose in a single request is not a retouch — it is a new sitting, and should be commissioned as one.

Retouch, or sit again?

How is retouching priced?

Per commission, and the figure is shown before you confirm. Correcting a keeper is ordinarily gentler on the balance than sitting a fresh series and selecting again.

Is my original altered?

Never. A retouch produces a new piece; the original remains in your account exactly as it was.

How many corrections may one commission carry?

One, by house custom. Several changes at once unsettle precisely the qualities you wished to keep.

May I bring photographs of my own?

Yes — your own photographs are welcome at the desk, under the same consent standards as every service here.

What if the retouch misses my intention?

Narrow the instruction, and say plainly what must remain identical. Most disappointments at the desk trace back to a brief that left too much to interpretation.

One membership, the whole atelier

Portraits, films, retouching and finishing draw on a single balance and rest in a single private collection. Begin with the piece you have in mind.
